Sackets Harbor is a small village located on the shores of Lake Ontario and Black River Bay. Once a major shipbuilding community, Sackets Harbor was home to one third of the US Army and one quarter of the Navy during the war of 1812. These forces successfully defended our nation's northern border during this war. Rich in history, the village continues to keep the past alive with their annual Can-Am War of 1812 Festival. You will be transported back in time during this festival; you will see tall ships and will hear muskets firing! A very popular tourist attraction with many fine restaurants, marinas and stunning views , Sackets Harbor comes alive especially during the summer with attractions like their International Festival and Sunday concerts on the Waterfront. Close to Watertown and Fort Drum, Sackets Harbor is popular with many of the military families in the area.

Cape Vincent, New York

Cape Vincent, a small village located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, was incorporated in 1853. Tibbetts Point Lighthouse, erected in 1826, marks where "the Lake and the River meet." This is where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River. Cape Vincent, NY is also home to the famous "stone house" that housed Canadian Rebels during the Patriot War in 1838. In 1986 local residents inaugurated a French Festival Day. On the second Saturday in July thousands of visitors come to Cape Vincent to enjoy some French pastries, shopping at the craft fair, watching a parade and catching up with old friends. Canada is just a short boat ride from the village of Cape Vincent; just hop onto Horne's Ferry and in 10 minutes you will be on Wolfe Island in Canada. Simply drive across the island to get on another ferry, and you will be in Kingston, Ontario!

Alexandria Bay, New York

The French explorer Count Frontenac described Alexandria Bay as "A Fairyland, that neither pen nor tongue of man may even attempt to describe." If you are looking for activity, Alexandria Bay is the place to be! Large boats, poker runs, gift shops, boat tours and the annual Pirate Days are among the many delights that you will find here. Perhaps what Alex Bay (as it is referred to by the locals) is most noted for is nearby Boldt Castle. George Boldt commissioned this 120 room castle to be built for his wife, Louise. Legend has it that when George's wife died in 1904, he halted construction and never returned to Heart Island. Today Boldt Castle is a famous tourist attraction that draws many visitors from all over the world.
